On Friday (30/09/2022) Yayasan Bali Bersih/Westerlaken Foundation did water quality tests at Petitenget Beach and Mertasari Beach. Research of water quality is conducted every week by Yayasan Bali Bersih on both beaches. This research has been going since December 15, 2021 until now.
The results of the research on 30/09/2022 provide information that the water taken at Petitenget Beach and Mertasari Beach contains Escherichia coli bacteria, where all Durham tubes contain air bubbles and indicate the presence of these bacteria in the waters. Escherichia coli is a bacterium found in human feces. The presence of these bacteria can indicate that the water quality is poor. Given the poor water quality can affect marine life and humans who consume seafood.
This research is expected to provide an overview of the condition of water quality at Petitenget Beach and Mertasari Beach to coastal communities, NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), and the government. This research is permitted by government regulation with research permit number B.30.070/685.E/IZIN-C/DPMPTSP.
