Today you can be a lifesaver!
Are you a #balilover? Bali misses you! Normally, before this COVID period, tourists came to the Jodie O'Shea House in Denpasar to bring donations. Due to COVID, this support has completely disappeared.
Jodie O'Shea House was founded in memory of Jodie O'Shea. She was killed in the terrorist attacks on Bali in 2002.
Jodie O'Shea House helps Indonesian children from poor families, from abuse situations, and children without parents. Since 2020, Westerlaken Foundation has been a partner of Jodie O'Shea House, in which we supervise the reintegration of children with their own families, write and implement child protection policies, and train and supervise the staff with the aim of giving all children a home; in line with UN regulations.
The COVID crisis is causing major problems, because a large part of the income has been lost. Unfortunately, we do not see a way out without your help. Without your assistance, Jodie O'Shea House could close and the children could go hungry. 24 children live in the house, 43 children have been reunited with their parents and family in the past year, but are continuously helped with costs for education, food, and general care.
Due to COVID-19, more children than ever are living in poverty in Bali, Sumba, and other nearby islands. We have more children in need of emergency care, and right now we are unable to meet these needs.
With your help, we can continue to help Putu, Luh, and the dozens of other children in our care.
Jodie O'Shea House (JOS) is a safe haven for children like Putu and Luh, but at the moment there are no more sufficient resources to do this. Don't let these children be victims of COVID.
